Sarah's story

Sarah (she/her) recently lived with her brother and his family, which provided much-needed support. However, they are now facing eviction and won't have space for her anymore, leaving Sarah on the brink of homelessness. With no family or friends in Arizona able to offer assistance, her overall situation is especially challenging.
"Being a trans girl homeless in Phoenix is simply not safe," Sarah shares, expressing her fear and vulnerability. She believes that not worrying about being immediately read as trans in public due to unshaven facial hair would make the situation a lot less scary. Receiving assistance for hair removal will significantly improve Sarah's safety and confidence as she navigates this challenging period in her life.

Sarah shared, "It's been getting easier to look in the mirror for certain, I started with laser because the place I went to recommended it and had my second session yesterday actually and I at least feel as if there is a noticeable difference in the way my face looks though obviously its not fully done yet, I am very excited to see the end results already though"

It's common for applicants to note issues with employment and public safety, particularly if their facial hair is dark or thick. Electrolysis and laser hair removal services are often deemed cosmetic and therefore not covered by health insurance plans.
