Londyn (she/her) is a 25-year-old trans woman who has been seeking funding for more advanced treatments to affirm her gender identity for nearly 10 years. Despite trying GoFundMe, seeking help from family, and saving diligently, she has faced financial and other obstacles that have seemed insurmountable.
Londyn is deeply involved in her community, currently serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA with a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families recover from alcohol and drug addiction. She finds meaning and purpose in her work. Londyn is also an avid weaver, writer, and overall dreamer, finding peace in the repetitive task of moving the heddles of her loom up and down or writing until her fingers nearly fall off.
The impact of this gender-affirming care on Londyn's life would be substantial. She has long struggled with the idea of having hair where "most girls don't," a logical fallacy that is hard to disengage. Londyn suffers from body dysmorphia, finding it hard to look in the mirror most days. This struggle affects other aspects of her life, making it difficult to leave home.
Receiving this hair removal grant is a crucial step in Londyn's transition journey. For the first time in a long while, she is hopeful for what the future may bring. This support would significantly improve her quality of life, allowing her to live more authentically and confidently.
