Lily's story
Electrolysis Support Fund recipient
Lily (she/her) is a trans woman who has faced numerous challenges on her journey to self-discovery and acceptance. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and dysautonomia, it took her nine years to finally summon the courage to come out and be herself. She recently celebrated her one-year milestone and shared, "I don't think that I've ever been happier in the other 25 years of my life."
Lily is a professional esports player, a graphic designer, and a single mother. She thrives on making friends and being a supportive and empathetic person whenever she can. Reflecting on her journey, Lily expressed, "I feel like I'll finally have the courage to start full-time looking like myself in public instead of trying to hide away under inevitable facial hair and masculine clothes."
Her struggle with self-consciousness over her facial hair has been a significant barrier, preventing her from fully exploring her desired appearance. Lily's enthusiasm for the future is palpable as she looks forward to embracing her true self and stepping confidently into the world. "I've been so self-conscious of my facial hair and such for so long that I really haven't even gotten to explore how I want to look when I go out," she shares. Lily's resilience and determination underscore the importance of access to gender-affirming care in her journey towards self-realization and happiness.
