Adrianna's story
Electrolysis Support Fund recipient
Adrianna (she/her) is a disabled trans woman from Massachusetts who works 30 hours a week on her feet at a busy customer-facing job. She struggles with insomnia, PTSD, and crippling depression, which have sometimes kept her out of work for up to eight months and caused housing insecurity. Currently, she barely makes enough to cover rent, bills, and food, and has been denied government assistance via SNAP or supplemental income.
"Finishing electrolysis would save me from the stubble and rashes I fight with regularly," Adrianna shares. "It would make me far more comfortable when working since I am the only trans employee."
Receiving support for electrolysis would significantly improve Adrianna's quality of life, helping her feel more comfortable and confident in her identity while reducing the physical discomfort and financial burden she currently faces.

It's common for applicants to note issues with employment and public safety, particularly if their facial hair is dark or thick. Electrolysis and laser hair removal services are often deemed cosmetic and therefore not covered by health insurance plans.
