Jim Collins Foundation Joins Point of Pride to Expand Access to Gender-Affirming Care

January 27, 2025

The Jim Collins Foundation, a non-profit organization renowned for providing financial assistance to trans individuals seeking surgery, has officially merged into Point of Pride, a national leader in providing access to gender-affirming care.

Since its founding in 2008—as the first 501(c)(3) non-profit in the United States with the mission of funding gender-affirming surgeries for people who need but can’t afford them—the Jim Collins Foundation has been a beacon of hope. Guided by the belief that every trans person deserves access to affirming healthcare, the Foundation has transformed lives by making surgery a reality for 50+ grant recipients.

Jody Randall, Board President of the Jim Collins Foundation, shared, "For more than 15 years, the Jim Collins Foundation has been honored to provide grants that have had life-changing effects for trans people. By joining forces with Point of Pride, we ensure that this vital work not only continues but expands to reach even more people in need. We’re excited to consolidate resources, strengthen our impact, and rise to meet the challenges our community faces with unity and resilience."

Point of Pride, founded in 2016, has quickly grown into one of the nation's most impactful non-profits serving the trans and gender-diverse community, having awarded over $2.75 million in financial aid and supporting more than 25,000 people in accessing vital health and wellness support.

With this merger, the Jim Collins Foundation has contributed more than $100,000 to Point of Pride’s Annual Trans Surgery Fund, enabling Point of Pride to award additional grants and ensuring that the Jim Collins Foundation’s legacy continues to provide life-changing support to those who need it most. The Jim Collins Foundation will formally cease operations in 2025.

Aydian Dowling, Chief Advancement Officer and co-founder of Point of Pride, shared, "The Jim Collins Foundation has been a pioneer in the fight for equitable access to gender-affirming care, and we are proud to carry forward their legacy. This merger amplifies the incredible work that’s already been done and helps build a future of even greater possibility for our community.”

As legislative attacks on transgender healthcare intensify at the state level and the future of federal protections remains uncertain, this unification allows Point of Pride to strengthen its commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of the trans community with greater resilience and resources.
