Point of Pride Announces Expanded Eligibility and Increased Support for Electrolysis Fund
January 16, 2025
Point of Pride is excited to unveil two major updates to its Electrolysis Support Fund, expanding access to all trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals and increasing financial assistance packages to better meet recipients’ needs.
Expanded Eligibility for All Genders
Since its launch in 2018, the Electrolysis Support Fund has provided financial assistance to trans femme individuals seeking electrolysis or laser hair removal. Eligibility expanded in 2023 to include trans masc individuals preparing for surgery. Effective immediately, the program will now support all trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals, regardless of their reason for seeking hair removal.
“Along the way, we’ve continued to listen to feedback from our community. We know that hair removal isn’t just a surgical necessity for some—it can be vital to many masc and non-binary folks seeking to lessen unwanted facial or body hair to affirm their identities or combat dysphoria,” said Tyler Rodriguez, Director of Programs.
With this eligibility expansion, Point of Pride’s commitment to equity remains central. The program will continue to prioritize applications from trans femmes of color seeking facial and neck hair removal to reduce the risk of harm, as they are disproportionately affected by violence and discrimination.
Increased Support
To better address the needs of recipients, financial support packages have been enhanced. Previously offering grants of $1,250–$2,000, each package now includes additional stipends for:
- Transportation costs: Up to $250 to help recipients travel to and from appointments.
- Pain management support: Up to $100 for medications or comfort measures during sessions.
These updates are designed to reduce the barriers associated with hair removal, helping recipients focus on their health and well-being.
Applications for the 2025 cycle are now open and will be accepted until February 28, 2025. To learn more and apply, visit Point of Pride’s website.
