ICYMI: Point of Pride's 2024 TCS NYC Charity Team Athletes

In a historic first, Point of Pride is proud to announce that a team of six transgender and gender-diverse athletes will participate in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon this November, raising funds to support the organization’s mission to provide gender-affirming healthcare to those in need.

The team represents the first-ever all-trans charity team in the marathon's history, making this a groundbreaking moment for both the LGBTQ community and the sport of long-distance running. These athletes are not only training to compete in the world’s largest marathon but are also fundraising and spreading awareness about the importance of access to trans healthcare services.

“Our runners are champions of trans joy and resilience,” said Chris Mosier, Point of Pride board member, Team USA athlete, and charity team coach. “Running the New York City Marathon is a powerful experience, and doing it for a cause close to our hearts makes it even more special. I look forward to seeing our team break barriers and inspire others along the way. Together, we will cross that finish line with pride.”

The athletes’ commitment and passion will help Point of Pride continue to provide essential gender-affirming services, including free chest binders, surgery funding, and HRT care. Their participation not only raises funds but also showcases the strength and diversity of the trans community on a global platform.

Lauren Lubin April, the charity team coordinator, added: “As an advocate for non-binary and transgender rights for over a decade, I am incredibly honored to be part of this journey. The TCS New York City Marathon is more than just a race; it's a platform to amplify our voices and showcase the beauty of our diverse identities.”

This year’s marathon promises to be a powerful and inspiring event, with Point of Pride’s athletes leading the charge to foster inclusivity and pride, both on and off the racecourse.

Point of Pride's mission is help trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services. To date, Point of Pride has awarded $2,220,000 in financial aid and provided gender-affirming support to 22,000 people in all 50 states and around the world.
