Point of Pride Welcomes New Advisory Board Members

Point of Pride is proud to introduce the members of its newly-formed Advisory Board. This diverse group of leaders, some returning and some new, will provide valuable guidance and support to help further the organization’s mission of serving the transgender and gender-diverse community.
These members volunteer their time, insights, and subject-matter expertise, ensuring that Point of Pride continues to respond effectively to the needs of the people it serves. Through their collective efforts, the Advisory Board will help strengthen and enhance the organization’s programs.
Meet the Advisory Board Members:

Blossom C. Brown (she/her) – Actress, producer, and activist. Blossom gained global recognition for her appearances on I Am Cait and The Ellen Show. She shared, “I’m excited to join the advisory board for Point of Pride because I am passionate about the care and access for our trans community. I hope that we are able to change lives, open hearts, and make impactful change.”

Lydia X. Z. Brown (they/them) – Writer, attorney, and community organizer, Lydia has over 15 years of experience advocating for disabled and marginalized communities. They lead the Autistic People of Color Fund and are currently Director of Public Policy at the National Disability Institute.

Jodie Patterson (she/her) – Social activist, entrepreneur, and author of The Bold World: A Memoir of Family and Transformation, Jodie serves on the boards of several gender and family rights organizations and is a UN-appointed Champion of Change.

Erin Reed (she/her) – Transgender journalist and advocate, Erin tracks LGBTQ+ legislation nationwide through her newsletter, Erin In The Morning. “Point of Pride embodies the spirit of trans and queer resilience, and I’m proud to be a part of the organization moving forward,” Erin shared.

Rey Resendez (they/them) – 2Spirit activist, community organizer, and advocate for marginalized communities. Rey specializes in workplace inclusion trainings and trans health advocacy. “Joining the Point of Pride Advisory Board means being a beacon of hope and empowerment for transgender and non-binary people,” Rey shared.

Brian Michael Smith (he/him) – Acclaimed actor and advocate known for his roles in Queen Sugar and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Brian emphasized, "This fuels my passion to support the work Point of Pride does in providing essential resources and support to our community."

Eden Rose Torres (she/her) – Award-winning photographer and founder of the nonprofit Pride Portraits, Eden is a returning member of the Advisory Board. “It’s a huge honor to serve within an organization that directly impacts trans femme people, like myself,” Eden shared.
The new Advisory Board will help ensure that Point of Pride continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the transgender and gender-diverse community, leveraging their collective experience to create a lasting impact.
Point of Pride's mission is help trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services. To date, Point of Pride has awarded $2,750,000 in financial aid and provided gender-affirming support to 22,000 people in all 50 states and around the world.
