Point of Pride Awards $62,000 to 2022 Trans Surgery Fund Recipients
March 28, 2022
Point of Pride is excited to announce that $62,000 in financial assistance has been awarded to 8 recipients through the 2022 Annual Trans Surgery Fund. This funding ensures that each recipient can fully afford their gender-affirming surgeries, removing financial barriers to critical care.
This year’s cycle received 1,565 applications, with many applicants facing additional challenges such as homelessness, housing insecurity, discrimination from healthcare providers or employers, and living with a disability or chronic illness.
“Our team recognizes how difficult it is to select recipients from such a deserving pool of applicants,” said Liz Byrne, Board member of Point of Pride. “Every person deserves access to affirming healthcare, and we are grateful for the generosity of our community that makes this support possible.”
Special thanks to our sponsors:
- Dr. Scott Mosser, Gender Confirmation Center
- Dr. Alexander Facque, Gender Confirmation Center
- Dr. Daniel Medalie, Cleveland Plastic Surgery
- Dr. Charles Garramone, The Garramone Center
- Dr. Ellie Ley, Gender Confirmation Center
