Point of Pride Stands in Solidarity with the AAPI Community

In light of the ongoing violence and discrimination faced by the Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, Point of Pride reaffirms its unwavering support and solidarity. The recent tragic attacks in Atlanta are a stark reminder of the systemic exclusion, mistreatment, and violence against these communities in the United States.

Point of Pride Board member Liz Byrne expressed the organization’s commitment to standing with AAPI individuals in the fight against racism and hate. "We see you. The anti-Asian attacks in the US, most recently in Atlanta, are part of a heartbreaking history of systemic exclusion, mistreatment, and violence. We want to be intentional about holding space for our Asian siblings and allies who are grappling with the impact of these recent violent acts, as well as the broader history of oppression."

Point of Pride encourages members of the community to seek support if they are struggling. "Whatever you are feeling right now is valid. You are important, and you are enough—just as you are, unconditionally," Byrne added.

Point of Pride will continue to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities, working towards a future where all individuals, regardless of race or identity, can live with dignity and safety.

Point of Pride's mission is help trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services. To date, Point of Pride has awarded $2,220,000 in financial aid and provided gender-affirming support to 22,000 people in all 50 states and around the world.
