Point of Pride Launches COVID-19 Emergency Fund to Support Trans Individuals in Financial Need

In response to the unprecedented financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Point of Pride is proud to announce the launch of its COVID-19 Emergency Fund. This fund will provide microgrants to transgender individuals who have lost employment and are struggling to cover gender-affirming health necessities, such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), mental health services, and medical supplies.

Since its founding in 2016, Point of Pride has been dedicated to addressing the needs of the trans community by offering life-changing, gender-affirming support. The launch of this emergency fund is an extension of that mission, offering immediate, short-term relief to those most affected by the economic fallout of the pandemic.

“At Point of Pride, one of our core pillars is our ability to pivot quickly and meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Jeff Main, Board Secretary and co-founder of Point of Pride. “This emergency fund is one more way we can support the most vulnerable in our community, ensuring they have access to the critical care and services they need during this difficult time.”

The COVID-19 Emergency Fund provides direct financial assistance to those most in need, offering a lifeline to recipients who are unable to cover expenses related to their health and well-being due to job loss or reduced income.

Point of Pride remains committed to supporting the transgender community, especially in times of crisis, and will continue to provide resources and relief to ensure that no one is left without access to essential care.

Point of Pride's mission is help trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services. To date, Point of Pride has awarded $2,220,000 in financial aid and provided gender-affirming support to 22,000 people in all 50 states and around the world.
