Meet Our Marathoners: Point of Pride's 2024 TCS NYC Charity Team Athletes!

Collage of six marathon runners

This November, a team of six trans and gender-diverse athletes will be running in the world's largest marathon—the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon—supporting Point of Pride's mission.

Our runners are not just athletes participating in a marathon; they are champions of trans joy and resilience. Their dedication to fundraising and representing our community is truly inspiring, as this is the first-ever all trans charity team in the event's history. We thank them for their commitment and passion, which will help us continue providing essential gender-affirming healthcare services to those who need them most.

"Running the New York City Marathon is a powerful experience, and doing it for a cause close to our hearts makes it even more special," says Chris Mosier, Point of Pride board member, member of Team USA, and charity team coach. "I look forward to seeing our team break barriers and inspire others along the way. Together, we will cross that finish line with pride."

Lauren Lubin April, charity team coordinator, also expressed their excitement: "As an advocate for non-binary and transgender rights for over a decade, I am incredibly honored to be part of this journey. The TCS New York City Marathon is more than just a race; it's a platform to amplify our voices and showcase the beauty of our diverse identities."

"After nearly 15 years as a competitive muay thai fighter and coach, I decided to start running. Running is one of the few sports that allows me to compete in a nonbinary category, and it's been an incredibly affirming experience to be a part of a community that allows me to participate and compete as who I am." "As a fourth-year medical student, I strive to be a pediatric provider of equitable gender affirming care in the future. I was in the inaugural non-binary division at the Boston Marathon, and after that race I was able to help uplift many current and future trans athletes around me. My hope is for a world where queer joy is universal!" Donate to support Kae

"New York 2024 will be my very first marathon, although I have enjoyed beautiful Californian Half-Marathons like Tiburon and Monterey.  I'm excited to show how trans runners can proudly and loudly compete in a marathon like anyone else, and to support younger trans people with essential resources, opportunity, and hopefully a little inspiration." "I never considered myself a runner, but when the opportunity to support Point of Pride this way came up, I couldn't say no. It's even more incredible to be able to participate as myself, especially after doing too many fun runs where I had to force myself into a box that didn't reflect my identity. My training journey has already taught me so much about how small, consistent progress steps can really add up! I'm so excited to be part of this incredible, history-making team of inspiring individuals." Donate to support Liz

"As a transgender woman who lives outdoors, I'm always looking to challenge myself and build community. Running a marathon with other trans people while raising money to support gender affirming care for my trans siblings feels like a way to do both at once!" Donate to support Lyla

"I am a proud Asian trans woman who is also an immigrant. While running is a solitary endeavor, I am surprised to find an inspiring and diverse community around it. I want to be part of this community so future runners can see that, there are people who would support and cheer for them even if they feel alone when running by themselves."
