Meet Ezra, 2022 Annual Trans Surgery Fund Recipient
Congratulations to Ezra, who has been awarded $8,000 towards their gender-affirming surgery!
Ezra (they/them) is a 23-year-old disabled non-binary trans person. The dysphoria Ezra's chest causes affects their ability to feel comfortable in their own skin, damaging their self-confidence and triggering mental breakdowns as a result. They shared, "Receiving top surgery will allow me to feel at home in my own body: to look in the mirror and recognize the person who stares back at me."
As a result of their disabilities and people in their life who are unaccepting of them, they've faced a number of setbacks. Despite challenges, they are currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree, with the goal of using their degree to enhance the sexual and mental health of the LGBTQ+ community. They also aim to continue volunteering at wildlife centers because they are passionate about both nature and animals.
Ezra also enjoys a range of creative interests outside of their professional endeavors, including digital and traditional art, animation, and jewelry/craft making.
Ezra plans to have surgery with Dr. Alexander Facque of the Gender Confirmation Center in the coming months. The Gender Confirmation Center has been a proud sponsor with Point of Pride’s Annual Trans Surgery Fund since 2018, and we are so grateful for the work Dr. Facque does to provide gender-affirming surgeries for the trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse community.
