10 Easy Ways to Foster Trans Joy in 2025
As we step into 2025, many of us are feeling the weight of an uncertain political and legislative future. It’s natural to feel scared, stressed, or overwhelmed, but finding moments of joy—especially trans joy—is not only possible, it’s essential. Joy is an act of resistance, and when we care for ourselves and our communities, we cultivate hope and resilience.
We asked our team here at Point of Pride to share their favorite, everyday ways to spark joy—whether it’s connecting with chosen family, uplifting trans and queer creators, or finding small moments of celebration. Here’s what they said:
1. Hijack Your Algorithm for Happiness
Fill your social media feeds with more joy! Follow queer and trans creators who make you smile, inspire you, and remind you of the beauty of our community. By interacting with their content, you can start nudging the algorithm to curate a timeline that is uplifting and positive.

Schedule small but meaningful moments to build connection. Set reminders on your phone or in your calendar to text or check in on your chosen family, friends, or neighbors. A simple “I’m thinking of you” can go a long way in nurturing community care.
3. Celebrate Your Milestones
Jeff Main (he/him), Executive Director, suggests starting a calendar of important dates that commemorate milestones in your life: "Maybe it’s the day you started HRT, your name change anniversary, or a loved one’s top surgery date. Big or small, these moments deserve celebration!"
4. Write Letters of Support
Sending love to others can fill your own cup, too. Write letters of support for the trans folks Point of Pride sends chest binders and femme shapewear to—it’s a small but powerful way to remind someone they’re not alone. The recipients of these notes tell us all the time how unexpected and touching the message is.
5. Lean Into Self-Care
Tyler Rodriguez (he/him), Director of Programs, encourages us to take intentional time for self-care: "Whether it’s a bubble bath, a quiet moment with tea, or a guided meditation, prioritize practices that help you recharge."
6. Invite More Creativity
Abby Jaetzold (she/her), Care Coordinator, recommends creating a feel-good Spotify playlist featuring queer and trans artists. "Music can be a powerful tool to foster joy—so hit play and dance like nobody’s watching! Or, if you're into visual art, practice taking photos of moments that make you feel happy—selfies, scenery, your favorite meal—and save them in a dedicated photo album on your phone. It’s a beautiful reminder of all the little joys you’ve experienced."

7. Watch Inspiring Queer Documentaries
Jay Bonner (they/them), Operations & Finance Manager, shares that watching documentaries about influential LGBTQ+ figures can be a source of encouragement and joy. "Hearing the stories of people who have been 'great' or 'honorable' reminds us of the incredible strength of our community."
8. Support Queer-Owned Businesses
Wear clothing that makes you feel confident and shop from LGBTQ-owned businesses when you can. Supporting queer creators helps keep joy and creativity alive in our community.

You’ll be amazed at how joyful it feels to bond with others who share your interests."
10. Read and Consume Queer Art
Melissa Rodriguez (she/her), Volunteer, recommends, "Get a library card and dive into queer books, art, and media. Stories and art made by LGBTQ+ creators can be healing, inspiring, and joyful!"
