Nurture your well-being
Self-care after applying for financial aid
We want to extend our gratitude for taking the courageous step of applying for support through Point of Pride's financial aid programs.
We recognize that the process of submitting your application may bring up challenging emotions and memories. Know that your feelings are valid, and your willingness to share your lived experiences with us is deeply appreciated. This resource is crafted with you in mind to offer some simple self-care tips to center yourself.
Breathe deeply
Take a moment to pause and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling your belly expand, then exhale slowly through your mouth.
If a meditation is helpful, Point of Pride's designed a guided meditation just for trans folks.
Move your body
Engage in gentle movement, whether it's a short walk, stretching, or dancing to your favorite song.
Nourish your body
Check-in with your body's needs. Have some water, treat yourself to a favorite food, or eat a nutritious meal.
Rest
If you're feeling drained, take a nap or simply rest in a quiet space. Perhaps try thinking or speaking aloud some of these positive affirmations to yourself.
Reach out for support
Lean on your support system of friends, family, or community members who uplift and validate your experiences.
